Interiors stylist Marisa Daly moved into her one bedroom ground floor flat two years ago but before she did so she undertook a programme of improvements. "The flat is pretty compact but I liked the open plan living area, the location was great being two minutes from the tube and having a courtyard garden was lovely. However there was no storage for anything. I'm quite organised so I wanted to be able to hide unsightly clutter but display books, pictures, photographs and whatever I'm currently collecting. My father is an interior designer and he's also pretty tidy so he understood exactly what was needed. The yellow and grey colour scheme with accents of black and white was inspired by photographs of a flat Marisa saw in an American magazine. "My vintage sofas are different but I had them both re-upholstered in yellow velvet - in such a small space I wanted the look to be simple but colourful.
