Fishers Zhou and Song were on Lake Xiaohu when they came to area with an unusual amount of bubbles. They dropped their net over the side thinking they had discovered a big cluster of fish. However, to their surprise their boat then began to be pulled around the lake. After 20 minutes of fighting they managed to haul the net aboard and were shocked to see the giant fish trapped in inside. "I never thought in this lake there can be such a large fish," said Song. The fish is 1.6 metre high, has a chest circumference of 95cm and weighs 52kg. According to Song an old friend of his, who was also a fisher, once netted a giant fish in the lake but his boat was pulled upside down. "Maybe this is the one that got away," he commented. A local angling association staff member said, judging from its weight and size, the fish is at least 30 years old.
