Holocaust survivor Sarolta Gartner, 96, poses for a picture during an interview with AFP in Buenos Aires on December 30, 2024. Gartner was born in Budapest, Hungary, on January 25, 1928. At the end of October 1944, she was deported by the Nazi government of Hungary to the village of Kópháza, in the same country, where she was subjected to forced labor digging trenches. In March 1945, she was transferred to the Mauthausen detention center and later to Gunskirchen, both in Austria. She was liberated in Gunskirchen on May 5, 1945.
