'A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF' hosted by Gucci, United Nations, New York, America - 06 Feb 2008
This year's Vanity Fair Oscars party might be off, but Hollywood's A-list made up for the loss with a stellar turnout for Gucci, Madonna and Unicef's benefit event Raising Malawi last night (Feb 6). Held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the event attracted almost as many star guests as the Oscars itself. A glamorous looking Madonna was accompanied by her daughter Lourdes, but Guy Ritchie was absent - as was Gwyneth Paltrow's husband Chris Martin. A very heavily pregnant Jennifer Lopez turned heads on the red carpet, and Drew Barrymore looked loved up with Justin Long. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Tom cruise and Katie Holmes, and Salma Hayek and Francois Henry Pinault were just three of many A-list couples at the event. And Madonna declared: "I want to put Raising Malawi on the map. I want credibility as a philanthropic organization. I want to inspire people. I don't want them to just write me a check: I want them to give me a piece of their heart."
