Story from Jam Press (Boar Attacks Skier) Pictured: A video grab of an aggressive wild boar attacking an off-piste skier in thick snow. VIDEO: Aggressive wild boar attacks skier in thick snow An aggressive wild boar attacked an off-piste skier in thick snow. The scary moment was filmed by an onlooker and the footage shows the man wading through the white stuff. He suddenly stopped short at the sight of the wild swine in front of him. The aggressive animal ominously jumps through the thick snow to get to the man - who tries to retreat while keeping his eyes on the beast. The boar knocks the skier over and apparently starts to bite his legs. The cameraperson repeatedly says “Oh s*it” as he cuts away from the action and quickens his step to lend a hand. The attack took place near the village of Saint-Lary-Soulan in the French Pyrenees. The off-piste skier, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was grateful to have emerged unscathed from the attack. One local said: “Strong animal.” Luc wrote: “I’ve never heard a more sincere ‘oh sh*t’.” Patrick joked: “So you had a barbecue?” Maria commented: “Thanks to the animal rights activists who protest against hunting all the time, there are now too many wild boars.” The wild boar population has increased significantly in the Pyrenees in recent decades, as reported by NeedToKnow. Milder winters, the abandonment of rural areas, and the absence of natural predators such as wolves and bears have favoured their proliferation. Wild swine, capable of running at speeds of up to 30mph, have razor-sharp tusks that can inflict serious injuries if they feel cornered or are protecting their young. If you spot a boar in the wild, experts recommend keeping a safe distance and avoiding any actions that could be interpreted as a threat. If possible, seek higher ground such as a tree or rock.
