Britain's most festive home festooned with 200,000 Christmas lights
Britain's most festive home has a staggering 200,000 plus Christmas lights.
The detached property is completely covered from top to bottom in glimmering, white illuminations.
It took owner Richard Iles around a week to put them up, sometimes working until 2am.
The plumbing business owner has been covering his family home with Christmas lights for the last six years.
But this year is the most spectacular.
Richard of Winterbourne Down, Gloucestershire, near Bristol, told What's The Jam: "There are in excess of 200,000 lights.
"But it only costs around Ł150 in electricity as they're all LED.
"We get some lovely feedback from family, friends and neighbours and are probably the biggest display in the southwest I’ve been told.
"The village looks forward to the lights display and having done it for the past six years, I don't think we will ever be able to stop.
"This year, the display will be bigger and better than ever."
The display is raising vital funds for the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.
Richard added: "We’ve raised Ł4,000 so far.
"Since we’ve started six years ago we're raised around Ł6,000 as this is the biggest display we’ve done."
Richard makes the pilgrimage to Normandy each year for the commemorations of D Day - the largest seaborne invasion in history, which marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe and France.
Paul Cook, vice chairman of Taxi Charity for Military Veterans, said: "As a small niche charity that is wholly reliant on donations, we are incredibly grateful to Rich for choosing to support the Taxi Charity this year."
