The slippers on Display at Heritage Auctions in London
We're Not in Kansas anymore...
The iconic ruby slippers worn by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz have gone on display in London today (Weds).
It is a rare opportunity for movie fans to see up close the 'Holy Grail' of Hollywood memorabilia, after they were stolen from a museum 19 years ago and only reunited with their owner this year.
Former child actor Michael Shaw bought the red sequin shoes worn by Judy Garland from Hollywood costume designer Kent Warner in 1969.
He took them on travelling tours, used them to raise money for charity and lent them to museums.
But it was during a loan to the Judy Garland Museum in Minnesota for the annual Judy Garland Festival in August 2005, that someone broke into the museum and stole the slippers.
