Textile conservators clean the Trafalgar sail during conservation at the National Museum of the Royal Navy at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The only surviving foretopsail flown by HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, the sail covers an area of 3,618 feet, and is peppered with 90 shot holes from the Battle. It is kept in a climate controlled room at the museum, and is often open for viewing by the public as part of Heritage Open Days. Picture date: Wednesday November 27, 2024.
