A female cat named John may have used up one of her nine lives after she got her head stuck in a garage drainpipe on Saturday (23November2024).
John, had to be rescued by fire crews in Clevedon, North Somerset due to the bizarre incident.
She became wedged inside a garage and had to be cut out using small tools, and then had to be taken to a vet so the rest of the pipe could be removed.
In a statement, the Clevedon Fire Service wrote on Saturday: “A crew from Clevedon were called at 0955 this morning to a cat not stuck up a tree but stuck in a drainpipe! John (Yes John) the cat had get herself (Yes John is a girl, it’s a long story) stuck in a garage drainpipe from the inside of the garage.
“The crew used ladders and small tools to cut John out. The easiest and least distressing option was to cut a section of the pipe out with John in situ. John was then transported to a local vets who sedated her in order for the rescue to continue where no serious injury was found.
“John was left with the vet and her family to be checked over by the vet until well enough to return home.”
John’s owner, Cassie Darling, expressed her thanks by writing on Facebook: “I'm so grateful to you guys for rescuing my girl.”
