This unique creation takes inspiration from the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville famously driven by Auric Goldfinger, the antagonist whose obsession with gold turns him into a master criminal. The vehicle’s 21-inch wheels, finished in black with silver accents, further reflect the original design. At the car’s front, a unique Spirit of Ecstasy figurine subtly references the film’s gold-smuggling plot. Specialists achieved a “gold reveal” effect by applying 18-carat gold plating to a solid silver figure, a technique that mirrors Goldfinger’s own obsession with concealing and transforming gold. Inside, Rolls-Royce has integrated several highly complex bespoke features, including an 18-carat gold bar housed within the centre console, which glows softly. Other interior touches include gold lining on the front and rear centre consoles, air vents, organ stops, and the glovebox lid, which bears Goldfinger’s iconic quote: “This is gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.” The car’s treadplates are gold-plated and embossed with the same font style as the film’s title, while the vehicle identification number proudly ends in ‘007’ – an unmistakable nod to the franchise’s enduring legacy. A highlight of the Phantom Goldfinger is the bespoke Gallery, running across the front fascia. This stainless-steel artwork features an isoline map of the Furka Pass, where Bond pursues Goldfinger in the film. Created through a complex layering and engraving process, the map reveals gold beneath the darkened steel, symbolising hidden treasure. The Starlight Headliner has been customised to replicate the constellations over the Furka Pass on the night of 11 July 1964, the final day of filming in Switzerland. 719 gold-hued ‘stars’ light up the headliner, including eight shooting stars, each positioned by hand. Other distinctive details include picnic tables adorned with a 22-carat gold inlay representing Fort Knox, the fictional setting for Goldfinger’s heist. The tables took six months to perfect, highlighting key areas such as ‘Gold Vault Road’ and ‘Bullion Boulevard.’ An additional nod to Goldfinger is the inclusion of a gold-plated golf putter, mounted in the boot – a reminder of the villain’s memorable golf game with Bond at Stoke Park. Rolls-Royce even included umbrellas in red, blue, green, and yellow, mirroring those stashed in the original film car’s boot by Oddjob, Goldfinger’s iconic henchman. Secured with the British numberplate ‘AU 1,’ a reference to gold on the periodic table, Phantom Goldfinger embodies Rolls-Royce’s commitment to exquisite design and storytelling.
