Story from Jam Press (Boat Seal) Pictured: A massive seal chilling out. Seal-ing the show! Massive seal spotted chilling out in boat at beauty spot A massive seal has been spotted chilling out in a boat at a popular beauty spot. The 32 st (200kg) harbour seal nearly dwarfed the dinghy he was dozing in on. He was spotted by Rob Jones, who was just thankful it hadn't chosen his boat for a nap. The seal was seen on the River Dart, at Dartmouth, Devon. "I've seen seals in the River Dart before but not that size and definitely not in a boat,” he told What's The Jam. "I reckon he was 200kg. "My boat has a swim platform and I moored her in the River Dart for the first time this May. "I had to laugh when the river taxi man said the seals would love the swim platform that’s on my boat. "But this boy ignored that thank goodness and chose this RIB instead." Both grey seals and harbour seals use the River Dart estuary throughout the year. They mostly sleep ashore but are sometimes spotted on floating pontoons. When awake, they are most often swimming, diving, floating like logs, or eating fish.
