(FILES) A Spanish Salvamento Maritimo (Sea Search and Rescue agency) vessel tows a boat after 3 "cayuco" boats with around 180 persons onboard arrived at La Restinga port on the Canary island of El Hierro, early on September 19, 2024. At least nine migrants died and 48 went missing when the boat they were travelling in capsized near El Hierro, the Maritime Rescue Service reported on September 28, 2024. In a statement, the Spanish sea rescue organisation reported that 84 people were travelling on the boat, and that "nine bodies have been recovered" while a "search operation for 48 missing people" is underway.
