Rare badger with blue eyes
LEEDS UP CLOSE images of a European badger appearing to have blue eyes were taken in Methley, near Leeds on September 22.
Images show the badger looking inquisitively at its surroundings before looking directly at the camera and posing for a picture.
Badgers are the UK’s largest land predator and are one of the most well-known British species.
They are famed for their black and white stripes and sturdy bodies, using their strong front paws to dig for food and to perfect their hobbit-like burrows, called ‘setts’.
Badgers in the UK generally have small, black eyes but this one’s piercing blue eyes mesmerised British wildlife photographer Martin Goff.
“I was already very excited to witness a badger this close, but I was blown right off the park when I noticed its blue eyes,” he told mediadrumworld.com.
“I am always on the lookout for unique animals and observe their behaviour.
“Coming across something as unique as this makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
