The unveiling, WALSALL, ENGLAND, A ROYALLY good statue of the late Queen Elizabeth II has been revealed and it is perfect. Images show the hand-carved statue made in memory of Britain’s longest serving monarch has been unveiled in Walsall, UK, with special guest Mark 'Billy' Billingham from SAS Who Dares Wins in attendance to help with the unveiling. The statue took around 12 months to complete and was hand-carved from a single granite block with intricate inlays of contrasting colours. It will now stand proud outside of Walsh Funerals & Memorials in Bloxwich. Jake Walsh, from Walsh Funerals & Memorials said that capturing the Queen's likeness was no easy task. "All the face and body is all done by hand and everything is carved from one piece of granite block,” said Jake "In the last 12 months we've been sitting with our stonemasons and artists hand- crafting it.” Hundreds of people in Walsall attended a ceremony on Sunday 15 September dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II. One onlooker was Dispatch Controller James Poole (27) from Wolverhampton, who spoke to mediadrumworld.com. James captured the images in Walsall, England on his Canon EOS R7 with RF 18-150mm Lens. “It was a memorable event organised by Walsh Funerals & memorials of the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Statue being unveiled in front of a large crowd,” said James “I felt truly honoured to be involved in capturing such a memorable event. “I love the side close up of the statue that shows the hard work put in over the past 12 months. “The artists had hand carved the Queen into a single granite block over the past 12 months. You can see just how creative the design is in the close ups I've captured. “It's truly special to be able to capture an event supported by the public, there wasn't a second in the event where I didn't have a smile on my face. “I'd like to say a special thankyou to the team at Walsh Funerals & Memorials for making the event so heart-warmingly special.” ENDS
