HUGGING IT OUT… A pair of Capybaras hug while play fighting together. The pair were spotted in the embrace in Southern Pantanal, in Brazil. Trial lawyer John Rollins, 58, said, “The two young Capybaras were just play fighting in front of me and they look like they are just hugging it out after a fight, when they’re just playing really as children do, which I enjoyed seeing. I believe the slightly bigger and older Capybara was trying to assert some dominance over the younger one. I actually came across the pair by accident, while being out looking for anteaters. Can you describe what is happening in these images? (I know the pictures are pretty self-explanatory but having a quote or two fro you would be great.) It looks like they are hugging in a few shots, would you agree? They were really just "play fighting." But, the larger one was the aggressor and seemed like he was trying to show some dominance. A couple of the shots definitely look like they are hugging or dancing! How were you able to capture these images? We were out on a morning drive looking for giant anteaters when we came across a very large group of Capybara. The light was very nice and there were some adults and juveniles in the group. The temperature was very cool so the Capybara were pretty active so we stopped to watch and see what they would do. There were a couple of instances where they play-fighting like this and I tried to capture those interactions. Is there any more information you would like us to include?
