South African spinner Nalo Jivhuho (40) also known as Dankie Darlie, poses in one of her cars during a practice in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on August 07, 2024. Born in the midst of the apartheid regime in Soweto, the practice, initially associated with gangsterism, has become one of the most popular sports. The goal is to perform stunts, figures and skids until a tire punctures. Recognized as a motor sport since 2014 in South Africa, spinning is seeking to become official and develop sponsors. In July, the new Minister of Sports, Gayton Mckenzie, announced that he wanted to make it "one of the most important sports". (Photo by MARCO LONGARI / AFP)
