Titanic museum on market for £2m – including entire 7,000-piece collection
Historic treasures from famous shipwrecks including Mary Rose and Titanic are among thousands of artefacts for sale – along with the unique museum they're in.
The Shipwreck Treasure Museum is being sold with a price tag of almost £2 million.
The attraction is in picturesque Charlestown, Cornwall, which has been used as a location for TV shows like Poldark and Doctor Who.
It is home to the largest public collection of maritime artefacts and memorabilia in the UK – all of which are included in the price.
Among objects on display are items from wrecks The Mary Rose, Titanic, Lusitania and HMS Victory, as reported by Luxury Property News.
The museum is being sold by Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the Eden Project and owner of the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
A spokesperson for Smit Associates Ltd and the Shipwreck Museum, said: "We can confirm that The Shipwreck Museum/The Merchants of Charlestown attraction has just gone on sale.
"The museum was established nearly fifty years ago and we are proud to have been owners and custodians of it and its important maritime collections since 2015.
"We have decided to offer the business for sale as part of a consolidation around the land-based activities of Smit Associates Ltd including The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
"The Shipwreck Museum/The Merchants of Charlestown currently employs four people full-time and we hope that these jobs will be preserved when a sale progresses.
"In the meantime, the museum and the Rebellion restaurant remain fully open and we are continuing to welcome visitors.
"In the event that we are unable to sell the business in its entirety, we have a further contingency which will see the collection go to auction in November with the building sold separately."
