Story from Jam Press (Phone Thieves Moped) Pictured: Video grab of the two men on a moped who try to take a man’s phone whilst riding along the pavement. VIDEO: Two crooks on moped try to swipe man’s phone while riding along pavement Two crooks on a moped tried to swipe a man’s phone while riding along the pavement. The victim was minding his own business standing on a street corner. He glanced down at his mobile but luckily turned around as the scooter approached. The thief on the back attempted to grab it but the man was able to pull his arm away. It happened 8am today (7 Jun) in Gladesmore Road, south Tottenham, north London as reported on NeedToKnow The scooter then sped away on the path as the victim of the attempted theft looked bemused. It follows a spate of phone thefts in the capital. The crooks - often acting in pairs - use mopeds or electric bikes. A woman was targeted in Marylebone, central London yesterday (6 Jun) morning. A crook on an e-bike approached her from behind and took her mobile. Local Calvin McDonald said: “Not had anyone try this with me before, being over 6ft and fairly stacked helps. “Although, I'd love to see someone have a go.“I surmise they'd soon enough wish they hadn't. “I once got someone nicked for this in Knightsbridge after they stole a tourist's phone.” Alex Fletcher fumed: “I’ve had my phone pinched in central London twice now. “Both times they chucked back on the floor straight away because it wasn’t an iPhone.” Michelle said: “About time people and cars started running these vile creatures off the road.” Another added: “It’s getting out of hand. “See anyone on a motorcycle or bicycle wearing black attire with a balaclava or funny looking helmets. “All that comes to one’s mind is that they are thieves.” The Met Police has been approached for comment.
