Prince Albert of Monaco during the opening of the temporary exhibition 'Albert I, the Prince of Prehistory', at the Centro de Arte Rupestre de Cantabria, on May 31, 2024, in Puente Viesgo, Cantabria (Spain). The exhibition is dedicated to his great-great-grandfather and is the result of a collaboration between the Principality of Monaco and the Government of Cantabria. The exhibition illustrates the role of the monarch as a promoter of research in the caves of the region in the first decades of the 20th century, and collects impressions and testimonies of the prince's field visits to the caves of Covalanas, Altamira, El Castillo and La Pasiega in 1909 and 1914. The visit concludes with the formalization of a collaboration agreement between the Principality of Monaco and the Government of Cantabria to promote scientific and cultural cooperation in the field of prehistory. 31 MAY 2024 César Ortiz / Europa Press 05/31/2024 (Europa Press via AP)
